Position Title: Freelance Importer/Exporter

Type: Work from Home

Work timing: Flexible

Performance Based Pay:

Pay will be performance based. No fixed salary would be paid. Competitive performance based pay.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Procurement: Identifying and establishing relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, both domestically and internationally. This includes negotiating prices and terms.

Market Research: Analyzing global markets to identify opportunities for importing or exporting specific products. This involves understanding consumer demand, competition, and market trends.

Logistics and Shipping: Arranging and managing the transportation of goods, including freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and delivery. This often involves working with freight forwarders and shipping companies.

Documentation and Compliance: Preparing and reviewing all necessary import/export documentation, such as invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin. Ensuring compliance with all relevant local and international trade laws, regulations, and tariffs is paramount.

Client Communication and Relationship Management: Acting as a liaison between buyers and sellers, managing communication, and resolving any issues or disputes that may arise during the trade process.

Financial Management: Understanding and advising on payment terms, currency exchange, import duties, taxes, and potentially arranging for necessary bonds.

Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate them.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: While not always strictly required, a background in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is often beneficial. High school diplomas are typically the minimum educational requirement.

Knowledge: A strong understanding of international trade laws, customs procedures, Incoterms, and shipping logistics is essential.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital for negotiating, liaising with clients and partners, and resolving issues, often across different cultures and time zones.

Negotiation Skills: The ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, buyers, and service providers is crucial for profitability.

Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in handling documentation and ensuring compliance is critical to avoid costly errors, delays, and penalties.

Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks, track shipments, and maintain accurate records is key.

Problem-Solving Abilities: The capacity to think critically and find solutions to unexpected challenges that arise in international trade.

Cultural Awareness: Understanding cultural nuances in business practices and communication styles can significantly improve international dealings.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with import/export software, logistics platforms, and general office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Languages: Proficiency in foreign languages can be a significant advantage.
