JOB DESCRIPTION<\/p>\n

Job Title: SEN Teacher \/ Learning Support Teacher<\/p>\n

Department: Inclusion \/ Student Support Services<\/p>\n

Reports to: Head of Inclusion<\/p>\n

Job Purpose<\/p>\n

The SEN Teacher is responsible for supporting students with identified learning needs to access the curriculum effectively. The role involves planning and delivering targeted interventions, collaborating with teachers and parents, and ensuring inclusive practices that promote student progress, wellbeing, and independence.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n

Student Support & Intervention<\/p>\n

Identify and support students with special educational needs, including learning differences, attention difficulties, and developmental delays.<\/p>\n

Plan, deliver, and review individual and small-group interventions aligned to student needs.<\/p>\n

Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), learning support plans, or accommodation plans.<\/p>\n

Creating differentiated worksheets and manipulatives to support learning needs and develop skills.<\/p>\n

Monitor student progress through observation, assessment data, and regular review cycles.<\/p>\n

Support students within classrooms through in-class accommodations, co-teaching, or push-in support where appropriate.<\/p>\n

Collaboration & Communication<\/p>\n

Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies.<\/p>\n

Collaborate with counsellors, psychologists, therapists, and external professionals as required.<\/p>\n

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strategies, and next steps.<\/p>\n

Participate in case conferences, review meetings, and parent consultations.<\/p>\n

Curriculum Access & Inclusion<\/p>\n

Ensure reasonable adjustments and access arrangements are implemented for assessments and examinations.<\/p>\n

Support inclusive teaching practices aligned with the school\u2019s philosophy and programme frameworks (e.g., IB, IGCSE).<\/p>\n

Promote student self-advocacy, independence, and confidence in learning.<\/p>\n

Documentation & Compliance<\/p>\n

Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress notes, and meeting outcomes.<\/p>\n

Prepare reports and documentation required for school records and external examinations.<\/p>\n

Ensure practices align with school policies, safeguarding requirements, and confidentiality standards.<\/p>\n

Professional Development & Contribution<\/p>\n

Engage in ongoing professional development related to SEN and inclusive education.<\/p>\n

Contribute to whole-school inclusion initiatives and staff training when required.<\/p>\n

Participate in departmental meetings and school events as expected.<\/p>\n

Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n

Essential<\/p>\n

Bachelor\u2019s degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field.<\/p>\n

Masters degree in Education\/Psychology or Related field from recognised university.<\/p>\n

Formal qualification or certification in Special Educational Needs \/ Learning Support.<\/p>\n

Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a school setting.<\/p>\n

Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.<\/p>\n

Desirable<\/p>\n

Experience in an international school or with IB \/ IGCSE curricula.<\/p>\n

Familiarity with assessment accommodations and access arrangements.<\/p>\n

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.<\/p>\n
