Electrical Engineer \u2013 Power Innovation (Commissioning)<\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/p>\n

The Electrical Engineer \u2013 Power Innovation supports the safe, reliable, and efficient commissioning and startup of power generation and energy systems. This role provides electrical engineering expertise throughout pre-commissioning, commissioning, and turnover, ensuring systems are properly tested, verified, and ready for operation.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provide electrical engineering support across commissioning, startup, and system turnover phases<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lead and support electrical commissioning activities, including testing, verification, and troubleshooting of:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated systems<\/p>\n

\u2022 Protection relays and control systems<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Validate power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and ensure alignment with as-built conditions prior to energization<\/p>\n

\u2022 Execute and oversee electrical testing activities (e.g., insulation resistance, hi-pot, relay testing, functional verification)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support pre-commissioning activities, including loop checks, calibration, and protection system verification<\/p>\n

\u2022 Coordinate and participate in FAT, SAT, PSSR, and RFSU processes to ensure systems meet requirements for startup and turnover<\/p>\n

\u2022 Collaborate with Project Management, Construction, Commissioning, Controls, and Operations teams to ensure aligned execution and system readiness<\/p>\n

\u2022 Work directly in the field to support testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during commissioning and startup<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and company safety requirements<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support BESS and power generation system integration, including system-level testing and performance validation<\/p>\n

\u2022 Develop and maintain commissioning documentation, including ITRs, test records, redlines, and turnover packages<\/p>\n

\u2022 Identify, track, and drive resolution of punch list items prior to system handover<\/p>\n

\u2022 Coordinate with vendors to support installation, testing, and commissioning activities<\/p>\n

\u2022 Promote continuous improvement and support development of standardized commissioning processes and tools<\/p>\n

\u2022 Mentor and support development of junior engineers<\/p>\n

\u2022 Other duties as assigned<\/p>\n

Required Qualifications<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Engineering Technology<\/p>\n

\u2022 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or commissioning in power generation, industrial, or related industries<\/p>\n

\u2022 Working knowledge of:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Electrical power systems and equipment (switchgear, transformers, generators)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and control systems<\/p>\n

\u2022 Commissioning, testing, and startup processes<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n

\u2022 Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or actively pursuing<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Electrical Engineering (from ABET accredited Institution)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Experience with power generation, data centers, or BESS systems<\/p>\n

\u2022 Experience supporting or leading commissioning and startup activities<\/p>\n

\u2022 Familiarity with FAT\/SAT execution and turnover processes<\/p>\n

Technical Skills<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proficiency with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, MATLAB, or similar)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Experience with protection relay testing and electrical test equipment (e.g., Omicron, Doble, Megger)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Understanding of:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Protection coordination and arc flash analysis<\/p>\n

\u2022 Grid integration and energy storage systems<\/p>\n

\u2022 DCS\/SCADA systems and electrical integration<\/p>\n

Work Environment<\/p>\n

Field-based role supporting active construction, commissioning, and startup environments. Requires the ability to work in industrial settings and follow all required safety protocols.<\/p>\n

Work Schedule & Other Details<\/p>\n

\u2022 12 hour 7-day on\/off rotating shifts<\/p>\n

\u2022 Work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lift up to 50 lbs and team-lift heavier loads<\/p>\n

\u2022 Stand, walk, climb, bend, and squat for extended periods<\/p>\n

\u2022 Work at elevated levels using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts with appropriate PPE<\/p>\n

\u2022 Use hand tools and mechanical diagnostic equipment<\/p>\n
